Step 1: Disinfect the blade or pruning shears

Removing part of the plant creates a wound on your plant and your cutting, as it were. When you disinfect your pruning shears or knife before use, the chance that bacteria will get into the wound is much less and there is less chance of rot and other misery.
As an example for cuttings on sphagnum moss we use the Philodendron Scandens.

Step 2: Cut or cut about 1 centimeter below an aerial root

Look at the photo below how an aerial root of the scandens looks like. Note: make sure that in addition to an aerial root (or nodule) there is also at least one leaf on the cutting.
In some cases there are two leaves close together or you have multiple aerial roots. That's no problem, you simply have a bigger spot!
The cutting formula for this plant is: leaf + stem + aerial root = cutting!

Step 3: Prepare your cutting tray with moss

Now you it cutting have made, you can use the cutting tray with We prepare.

Place the moss in a bowl of water to moisten it well. Place your transparent cutting tray next to it. Once the moss is wet, partially wring it out. You can distribute the moss over the bottom of your cutting tray. Make sure the moss is very damp, but not wet. There should not be a layer of water on the bottom of your cutting tray. We want to make sure it doesn't get moldy. Ideally, the layer of moss is between 1,5 and 3 centimeters high.

Step 4: Now take your cutting tray with moss and stick the stem of the cutting with the aerial root just below the moss.

Make sure that the aerial root (or nodule) is firmly against the moss, but do not press the leaf of the plant against or under the moss. The aerial root may be under the moss sit down.
Optional: before you put the cutting in the moss, you can dip the cut end in cutting powder to stimulate root growth! If you want to know more about cutting powder, look in the webshop under the category 'plant food,' here is Pokon cutting powder to find.

You will also have to be patient when you use cutting powder. Spray the moss with water as soon as it looks dry or when you feel that the moss is no longer moist.

As soon as your roots are at least 3 centimeters you can transfer them to an airy potting soil mix! Each plant has its own favorite potting soil mix, so don't just put your young plant in the potting soil!
